This workshop is designed for adults (university students, community adults, and parents of neurodivergent children) seeking hands-on experience in working with neurodiverse children, particularly those with sensory processing disorders, brain-based special needs, and high-functioning neurodivergence.
The workshop will be held in two parts: the adult sessions on Fridays: April 18th, and 25th from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM, and the children’s sessions on Saturdays: May 3rd and 10th from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
During the adult sessions, participants will discuss and engage in creative processes such as clay hand-building and sand painting, emphasizing activities that support nervous system regulation and focus. Participants will also develop art-based thematic units for the children’s sessions.
The second part involves two children’s sessions, where adults will work with neurodivergent children ages 8-18 to apply what they have learned in an arts-based environment. These sessions offer practical application skills, helping children explore creativity in a supportive space while providing feedback to adult participants.
Parents are required to attend with their child and encouraged to bring familiar tools that may assist their children in the regulation of the nervous system of their children.
